The Nirox Park is for the ART fans, but also for the garden enthusiasts….I mean it looks like a botanical gardens with huge sculptures and artwork placed everywhere…which makes for very creative photos…which I love! I am not a ART person in bone and marrow, but I am very creative so I just loved doing this shoot for them!

Wow, I really love how Wicus and Liesl's engagement shoot turned out! They are sweet and down-to-earth people, and I dont like those Facebook groups for newly engaged couples (Yes, I know I comment on them...but I keep hoping that someone will see me there)...but I found Liesl one of those groups. I also met them in person at Tertius and Monique's wedding, and they became my clients! Yeah for weddings and meeting new clients!
In any case, we did their shoot at the impressive Shepstone Gardens and I loved every minute of it! I just loved Liesl's stunning red dress!
I am looking forward to capturing their wedding later this year!

I met Hennie and Béhanke at the Admired in Africa #beInspired 2018 conference and they were one of the model couples for the last day. I just knew I had to do a photoshoot with them, and this time at the beautiful Shepstone Gardens. Amazingly, it's the venue they really want to say their I-do's one day...so they also had a chance to view the venue.

Sometimes I wonder how some people find me. I mean I don't have a button on my webpage or Facebook which says:"Only beautiful people CLICK HERE!"...but I have gorgeous people as clients! Wow, Bryan and Sarah...you guys are so freakin good lookin'....my camera almost melted...and coupled with that magical sun up on the Northcliff Koppie...oh my word...magical stuff!
And they are super cool as well. They are tattoo artists (they work for Fallen Heroes) in the day and cheerleaders at night...wow, that sound like they are super heroes...wait...I am not sure exactly how they do it but they are also cheerleaders and they compete regularly overseas. Perhaps they will do a crazy stunt at the wedding...will have to wait and see!
Their crazy beautiful engagement photos were taken at two locations. We started in Parkhurst tourist area and walked the streets. And something out of the ordinary happened. The photos with the champagne wasn't planned at all...we were doing photos in front of Rockets Parkhurst and friends of theirs, who were at the restaurant, gave them each a glass to enjoy...so we had to capture a few shots with the champagne.
Wow, I also just want to give a shout out to a super awesome company, Profoto. I just love their Sunsilver Reflector....wow...those shots at the Cape Dutch building with the light on Sarah's face...that was created while holding the reflector in my left hand!
Their shoot ended at a new location close to Northcliff Koppie in Gauteng. The actual Northcliff Koppie site is closed off for renovations and its inaccessible to the public. The sunset was out of this world, and just loved getting a few shots with Bryan’s Ford Mustang as well!

Wow, I really wanted to create a dreamy, elegant and romantic engagement shoot for Yannick & Crystal, and they wanted a super beautiful sunset shoot in an urban setting...and there were no other option but to do the shoot at a rooftop in the Innercity of Johannesburg.
Yannick rented an Airbnb apartment in the 12 Decades Johannesburg Art Hotel in The Maboneng Precinct, and Extravaganza Weddings created the most romantic setting for them up on the roof! Wow, what a view of Johannesburg! I really can't wait for their wedding later this year, it's going to be epic!
Crystal's makeup was flawless, thank you Precious Puseletso Xaba Makeup Artist!

Wow, what an amazing and special shoot! Jehdene asked God for an amazing sunset during their engagement shoot and just look at it! and funny enough...we almost cancelled due a little rain! Northcliff Koppie and the splendour of God on display!

What a day. Jehdene wanted to go to Northcliff to get a sunset photo, which was fine, but when the day arrived there was rain forecasted. So after a few conversations we almost cancelled the shoot, and postponed to another day, but luckily we didn't. Jehdene asked God for an amazing sunset and just look at it! One of the prettiest sunsets I have seen in Johannesburg!
Timothy & Jehdene are getting married later this month and I had the most incredible time capturing special memories for them for their engagement shoot
I am a story teller and I love to be a photojournalist at a shoot at parties, weddings etc. So at heart I believe in telling authentic stories, because amazingly you almost never remember what you looked like 50 years from now, but you remember what you felt like. We need photographs to remind us what we looked like. So if we were fake in front of the camera, that is what you will remember. So I try my utmost best to create natural and authentic moments in front of the camera...so in essence I try to capture what you felt like (totally in love but also a little scared (I mean you are getting married)).
Oke right. Jehdene told me that she plays the Saxophone so I asked her to bring it along on the shoot...and wow....I am in love with the Saxophone shots...and mostly because its very personal for her!

His knees weakens when he sees Mareli, but also standing close to that black aeroplane (called a Vampire)! Its a beauty!

The green aeroplane is a Vampire, and its such a cool aeroplane.
They are tying the knot this Friday at Ingaadi Spa & Events Venue and I can't wait. They are super fun people and I believe the wedding is going to be epic!

Tyronne and Romandi are getting married at Mseni Lodge, Sodwana Bay in a few weeks and I cannot contain the excitement anymore! Its going to be epic. I love to travel and to capture wedding stories at beautiful destinations. But it will be special for me as well because the last time I was in Sodwana was when I was on my honeymoon nine years ago. I don't have the best memory of the place...I had food poisoning...but it is still amazing memories for me. Its a little sad I can't share it with my wife, because she can't go with me. But in any case...
Romandi wanted an urban setting for their engagement shoot, and we both suggested (crazy cool) that we should go to Industrial Coffee Works! I am really in love with this place, and they looked amazing against the industrial rustic background! I also love it when couples trust me to be super creative and we had loads of fun doing during their session.
Romandi wanted to have an Instax photo done during the session, which she want as a keepsake of the shoot...and I obviously jumped at the occasion to include the Instax photo in my photos. She said she will take it with her to Sodwana so we will be able to play around with the same effect on the beach!

Wow, I had fun with these two. Dane and Ashleigh are adventurous souls and they were almost silly in every photo...which I loved.
They were a bit on their nerves but its understandable. The reason why I love doing engagement shoots is for my clients to get over the awkwardness of being photographed and I want it to be during their engagement shoot (I mean everybody who is not a model is a little unconfortable in front of the camera), and not the during the wedding. They will be much more relaxed during the wedding, and I am sure their personalities will shine even more during their wedding especially when they are at ease!
Ashleigh really wanted an urban shoot so we went to Parkhurst, Johannesburg, and walked the streets. We also had a quick coffee at Vovo Telo and did some creative shots in the restaurant.
They are getting married at Rosemary Hill later this year and they need photos for their save-the-date and wedding invite website, and they told me their computers were stolen very recently so they don't have any pictures of them together! Now I am even more convinced their engagement shoot photos will be super special to them!

Wow, I have always wanted to do an engagement shoot at one of the beaches in Cape Town, and I got to do Nicolas & Greer's session at two of the most famous and beautiful beaches, Llandudno & Clifton. We did the shoot at 6am in the morning, and the light was magical!

Wow, I have always wanted to do an engagement shoot at one of the beaches in Cape Town, and I got to do Nicolas & Greer's session at two of the most famous and beautiful beaches, Llandudno & Clifton Beach. We did the shoot at 6am in the morning, and the light was magical!
I got to know Greer from a recent corporate shoot I did in Johannesburg, and she said she will be in Cape Town and she said she wanted to do an engagement shoot. I obviously jumped at the occasion and said I will gladly do your session...and wow...they are just magical! I had a blast. The weather was perfect at 6am and we had Llandudno and Clifton Beach all to ourselves. I always liked the quality of light early in the morning especially just before sunrise, but wow...the light was out of this world. I will definitely recommend doing a morning shoot at Llandudno. When the sunrays enter the beach at around 6:30am...magic happens!
Nicolas and Greer are such down-to-earth people, and easy to photograph...made my job super easy...and they are just gorgeous...I can almost print every photo on Vogue's front cover!

Wow, I just love going out to Harmonie Proteas for a photo shoot, especially after a few days of rain. Then the air is cleaner as usual, which make the sunsets next-level...and this place has some of the most prettiest sunsets I have seen in my life.
I had a blast with Tertius and Monique. They are sweet, down-to-earth souls. They had knowledge of each other throughout their lives, and they went to the same school but they never really had conversation, until recently. And after dating for roughly 3 months they got engaged. Tertius told me: "If you know the Lord has given your wife to you, why wait?" Wow, thats amazing. And even more impressive is the way they love each other. They are serious love-birds. Lets just say...it wasn't difficult for me to ask Tertius to kiss his bride-to-be...he is totally in love with his princess!
Monique rented a beautiful Silver Swallow Design Dress from Cocoberry.
I can't wait for their wedding next year at Memoire!

I just love it when clients trust me to do something a little different. Chantelle is working in the creative industry as a freelance designer and art director, and she wanted a fairytale type shoot. She told me that has this vintage dress she wanted to wear which in fact was used as a wedding dress by several weddings in her family. This dress later on became a costume for dress up parties, and I believe she looked amazing in this dress. Chantelle really looked like a fairy princess in that dress, and Kyle looked great as well. We started the shoot with Chantelle in a midi dress, and ended with the vintage wedding dress.
She also said she loves dramatic and colorful makeup, and Shelley from Butterfly Blush did such an amazing job doing her make-up.
It was the first time I arranged for the make-up to be done at my home, and it worked out quite well. Bryanston Pine Forest don't have a place or venue to get dressed or do make-up, so it just made sense to do it at my home.
I have bought a plastic tube (or fluorescent tube protector) and a flashlight and I want to start doing #Tubestories. Go check out this link: EricPare...this guy is insanely good. I showed the tube to Kyle and he said, why don't you try this on us? I was like...good idea! It didn't work out completely as I would have hoped, because you need complete darkness to achieve a great shot, but we got to play around a bit. That is what is great when you have people who trusts you...you can test new ideas on them as models, and they really enjoyed it.
We had some of the coldest weather this year in November...super weird. I mean we had 50cm of snow in some parts of South Africa, and firstly it doesn't really snow here and secondly we had some serious snow. So the morning of the shoot I almost cancelled due to the weather being so cold, but I am so glad we didn't. The afternoon was a little warmer, and I actually loved the eerie weather in the end...helped with the theme for the shoot!

I had a good week. Francois, Tertius' dad, made an enquiry on my website, he phoned to set up a meeting, which we had at Starbucks at Mall of Africa, and they booked me for their wedding in May next year. And we did their engagement shoot today...wow what a week...I wish all my bookings happens this efficiently!

I loved the engagement shoot I did with Christiaan & Mireille! These two are serious love birds, and I loved the chemistry between them...make for crazy beautiful and authentic photos!

I love it when clients make me feel comfortable as well. I mean, I always go out of my way to make my clients feel comfortable, but sometimes I get a little anxious because I need to concentrate on creating a relaxed atmosphere...but when my clients are super relaxed I am super relaxed. Christiaan and Mireille are such clients...so basically they allowed and trusted me to be super creative...I mean the photo above is a in-camera double exposure. It was done with photoshop, and I love the result!
Christiaan and Mireille are getting married at Morrels Boutique Venue in Linden, Johannesburg, and I am unfortunately not the wedding photographer. They already have a photographer, but they really wanted to their engagement shoot with me. They are both easy going people, and love the outdoors and nature a lot, so we did their shoot at the beautiful Delta Park in Randburg!
A crazy funny thing happened during the shoot. I made them stand underneath a Jacaranda tree and while I was directing them how to stand, a random dog entered the frame of the shot and made a poo...I mean you only see these things on Facebook...hilarious! Mireille told me when we finished, I MUST share that photo on Facebook...and I did. See here....we cracked up with laughter!

We have had seriously cold weather these past few days, and Saturday was most probably the climax, and I almost cancelled due to the weather, but I am so glad we didn't cancel. The afternoon was a little warmer though, and I actually loved the eerie weather in the end...helped with the theme for the shoot!
